I am committed to developing leaders, growing organizations, and changing systems to advance equitable opportunities and outcomes for everyone.
I am the son of Vietnamese refugees; a proud, queer man; a lifelong West Coaster; a product of public schools. As an educator, systems innovator, organizational development specialist, and equity strategist, equity is personal to me – I work to ensure all people can thrive in spaces of belonging and liberation.
Before starting my consulting practice, I was a DEI and nonprofit management leader, supporting sector-wide efforts to design more equitable talent and culture practices. One of his most notable accomplishments was launching and leading the Remote DEI Collective, a philanthropically funded national network of education organizations pursuing collective learning focused on stronger DEI organizational structures and strategies. My 13+ years of experience include heading nonprofit operations, talent, and culture at The Learning Accelerator, leading the national innovation strategy for Rocketship Public Schools, serving as a Blended Learning Master Teacher for BetterLesson, and teaching 5th-grade STEM in East San Jose.
I currently serve as a board member and DEI Chair of Hope Chinese Charter School and a community council member of the Portland Children’s Levy. I hold a B.S. from UCLA, am based in Portland, Oregon, with my husband and dog, and I love eating, traveling, and being outdoors as much as possible.
In all of my partnerships, I approach with the following values:
I apply equity and justice as cross-cutting lenses in all of my work.
I design systems and programs that maximize impact, particularly in partnership with others.
I am relationships-driven, ensuring all stakeholders are invested and supported.
I love asking questions, particularly to deepen shared understanding and achieve greater clarity.
I use data to inform all decisions and designs.
Ultimately, I seek to advance change that transforms systems and creates enduring impact.
